Meet Laurie

If you’re feeling overwhelmed, anxious, or disconnected, know that you’re not alone. As your therapist, I strive to create a warm and supportive environment where you can explore your feelings without judgment. I will help you connect with your emotions—yes, even the challenging ones—in a way that fosters healing and growth.

Taking the step to seek therapy is a courageous act, and I’m here to support you through it.

What You Can Expect

In our sessions, you can expect a space that prioritizes authenticity and connection, where true transformation unfolds through engaging fully with your emotional experiences. Whether you’re a college student facing academic pressures, a 60-year old woman grappling with self-doubt, or anyone in between, my approach is rooted in genuine care and empathy. I once had a client affectionately refer to me as an “empathy monster” because he felt the support and compassion I offered, even when he tried to keep others at arm's length. It’s this connection that I aim to cultivate with every client.

My Ideal Client

I particularly enjoy working with individuals who are open-minded, curious about themselves, and motivated to engage deeply in the therapeutic process. Whether you’re dealing with anxiety, relationship concerns, or feelings of low self-worth, together we’ll create a collaborative space that ensures you feel valued and truly understood. If you’re ready to embrace the support and challenge that I can offer, we’ll work together to navigate your emotions and experiences in a way that is empowering and brings personal transformation.

My Interests and Expertise

I specialize in helping clients struggling with:

  • Anxiety and Panic Disorders: Together, we’ll develop strategies to explore and manage those overwhelming feelings and develop a sense of grounding and calm. I do particularly well with people facing OCD and generalized anxiety challenges.
  • Identity Development: I have a special interest in spirituality, gender, and sexuality, helping you explore these facets of your identity.
  • Women’s Issues: Particularly in the areas of postpartum depression and the unique challenges women face today.
  • ADHD and Autism: I provide neurodiversity-affirming support tailored to your specific needs.

My Approach

I utilize an integrated therapeutic approach that combines Interpersonal Process, Psychodynamic, Emotion-Focused, Family Systems, and Cognitive Behavioral Therapies. Don’t worry if those terms feel overwhelming—I focus on understanding your unique history, context, and worldview to determine the most effective interventions for your growth. This understanding allows us to tailor the most effective interventions for your growth.

Through our work together, I aim to help you create corrective emotional experiences within therapy that you can carry into your life outside our sessions. It’s about fostering resilience and self-love, so you can navigate life’s challenges with greater ease.

Why I Do This Work

Therapy is a sacred calling for me. It’s a privilege to support individuals in their moments of vulnerability, guiding them through challenges with compassion and sometimes a bit of humor. My goal is to create a safe, caring space where you can feel empowered to make meaningful changes in your life.

Outside the Office

When I’m not in the therapy chair, you might find me performing in a show at the Northfield Arts Guild, helping someone else organize their house (but not my own house), or engaging in the joyful chaos of parenting. These experiences enrich my perspective as a therapist, reminding me of the beauty in life’s complexities. I believe in living authentically, embracing the beautiful messiness of life.
