About Us: Northfield Dynamic Therapy
At Northfield Dynamic Therapy, our journey began with a shared passion for helping individuals navigate life’s challenges and a desire to create meaningful, lasting change. Founded by three passionate psychologists—Dr. Nate Page, Dr. Laurie Page, and Dr. Tracy Brottem—our practice was born from a shared vision of providing holistic, compassionate care for individuals across Minnesota. We each specialize in college student mental health, and have worked at college counseling centers like Carleton Student Health and Counseling and St. Olaf Counseling Center right here in Northfield, MN. We also find joy providing therapy services to other adults that are a fit for our approach.
While we absolutely loved working with college students, we became increasingly limited in the high-quality therapy we could provide within the college system. Session limits, shortened appointments, and a system focused on crisis response left many students unable to build strong, ongoing therapeutic relationships. We saw students "fall through the cracks," not getting the depth of care they needed, while therapists like us faced burnout and compassion fatigue, knowing we had the skills to help but not the system to support it.
That’s when we knew it was time to create something different.
Our Vision
At Northfield Dynamic Therapy, we’re committed to providing therapy that prioritizes the individual. Our practice is like a boutique therapy center, where your unique needs drive the treatment plan, not the other way around. Whether you’re dealing with social anxiety, depression, ADHD, or trauma, we work with you at a pace that feels right—no rushed timelines or "cookie-cutter" approaches.
For instance, if social anxiety is your main challenge, we’ll work together to create a plan that helps you gradually face your fears—whether that’s raising your hand in class, talking to professors, or engaging with friends. And we’ll continue working until you feel confident and comfortable, using tools like group therapy or psychological assessments when needed.
Who We Serve
While our primary focus is on college student mental health, we are equally passionate about supporting adolescents and adults from diverse backgrounds. We assist individuals grappling with anxiety, depression, PTSD, ADHD, and a variety of other mental health challenges. Over the years, we have cultivated unique areas of expertise:
-
Tracy has established a strong focus on helping survivors of narcissistic abuse, providing compassionate and expert support tailored to their needs.
-
Nate and Laurie specialize in providing therapy for fellow therapists, serving to help "heal the healers". We even launched a dedicated website, Online Therapy FOR Therapists, to help therapists find high quality individual and group therapy for themselves.
Why Choose Northfield Dynamic Therapy?
Our practice is more than just therapy—it’s a place where you can finally take a deep breath, knowing that your needs come first. We understand the pressures of college life, the struggles of mental health, and the importance of feeling seen and heard. That’s why we’re here, offering personalized care in a private setting where the quality of the therapeutic relationship is our priority.
We’re here for you, and we look forward to being part of your healing journey.
